What if the darkest parts of your past were the very things God used to lead you home?

Is your testimony all-or-nothing? Section 50 describes a testimony that grows “brighter and brighter until the perfect day.” John explores why faith is more like a sunrise than a light switch and how to move from doubt to belief.
This week, we’re excited to share a special live episode recorded at the Compass Gallery in Provo, as part of our Big Questions series with Terryl Givens. Each month, Terryl is joined by a guest for a conversation about some of our biggest theological and historical questions. In this episode, he’s joined by scholar and teacher Jared Halverson. Together, Terryl and Jared explore the question: can doubt be a spiritual gift? They consider how doubt might play a meaningful role in our spiritual development, and ask whether we can reclaim faith as something relational, built on loyalty, trust, and love — rather than a list of things we intellectually agree to.
This week we are studying Doctrine and Covenants section 45. We’ll talk about the concept of “future anxiety” and the Savior’s admonition that we “fear not.” We’ll discuss the differences between external peace and internal peace, and how greater access to truth can increase our personal sense of peace. We’ll also review the importance of reasoning through our doubts and fears, to the end that we don’t spend all of our time worrying about things that are not likely to come to pass. There are free worksheets available for the invitations made in the weekly podcasts. To get these worksheets, please sign up for my email newsletter. When pillars of certainty crumble, is it possible to rebuild something even stronger in their place?
Sometimes life gets messy. Faith gets complicated. But that doesn’t mean the story’s over. Author Eric Richards discusses the difference between church and church culture, what to do when well-meaning leaders or teachers say something you question, and how none of this is "the end"; Act Three—the part where things start to make sense—is still coming. "Hang on. It’s going to be worth it."
With Easter just a few days away, we’re so excited to share this conversation with Amanda Suarez and Jon Ogden.
Being your best self isn’t about being better than someone else—it’s about choosing joy, focusing on the positive, and blocking out negativity. Becca Jackson reminds us that Satan wants to hold you back with self-doubt and discouragement, but God wants you to see your worth. So today, instead of focusing on what you lack, find what you love about yourself. Look for the good. See the sunshine. Your best self is waiting—it’s up to you to choose it.
Self-doubt is one of Satan’s biggest lies. But here’s the truth—Heavenly Father sent you here to succeed. Carmen Herbert reminds us that you already have what it takes. When you feel stuck, unsure, or afraid to move forward, look to God. He knows your potential. He knows your strength. If you trust Him and take action, you’ll accomplish more than you ever imagined. So today, take that step—He’s got you.
