JSH 1:21-26
After Joseph’s life altering vision, all kinds of people persecuted and didn’t believe him. He found solace in the company of some unlikely heroes...one in particular from the New Testament who became a great example to him.

Whenever you have a spiritual experience - either before, after, or sometimes both, you’ve got to expect opposition in some form. I love the what Joseph refers to himself in today’s episode and it should be a worthy goal for all of us to be called the same. 😀
I love reading the account of the First Vision! The way Joseph sought after truth is the same way we can do it in our day. 😀
It never ceases to amaze me to see history repeated in the scriptures. The same “war of words and tumult of opinions” is still as “incessant” today as it was in the early 1800’s.
The more I read the JSH, the more I see it as extremely relevant for our time. Who do you look to when you see others “militate” after the growth and progress of the church?
How grateful I am that during such a time of many “calamities”, the Lord calls a prophet to guide us in these latter days! Now, we just need to listen to him and HEARKEN..
Most everyone who has read the Book of Mormon is familiar with Moroni’s promise or challenge. But there is one word that to me, adds a different dimension to our whole experience of determining the truthfulness of this wonderful book. 😀
The preface of a book gives the author’s subject, scope, or aim. Section 1 of the Doctrine and Covenants certainly does all of that and more. Here is an intro and overview of “The Lord’s Preface” in D&C 1.
Even though it's the opening chapter, D&C 1 wasn't given first chronologically—but it lays the foundation for everything that follows in the Doctrine and Covenants and the Restoration.
We talk about what it means to study church history, especially throughout this year!
