This week we are studying Doctrine and Covenants section 19. This section is a direct revelation from Joseph Smith to Martin Harris. Although the counsel was specifically for Martin, there are many truths which can help us as well. We’ll talk about some of the characteristics of the Savior which enabled Him to complete His Atonement, including having a good understanding of identity and purpose, in addition to being persistent. We’ll also talk about how as we develop these character traits in our lives, we’ll be better equipped to deal with our own trials.
Have you ever heard of the semicolon symbol? It represents choosing to keep going when life gets unbearably hard. Brian Lindow shares why this punctuation mark has taken on deep meaning—it’s a reminder that your story isn’t over yet. In Moses 6:34, Christ says, Walk with me. That’s His promise to stand beside you, even when your story feels broken. If you’re struggling, hold on. Trust Him. The chapters ahead are worth reading.
Struggles feel so big in the moment, but what if they’re just one small chapter in a much bigger story? Becky Hennessy shares a life-changing scripture from 2 Corinthians 4: The things we see are temporary, but the things we don’t see are eternal. If something feels overwhelming today, step back and ask: How will this look in a year? In five years? God sees the whole picture—even when we can’t. Trust that He’s working on something greater than you can see right now.
Gather your family to listen to stories about how, by weathering trials and time, resilient love puts us back together.
We all wish life could be easier—no stress, no struggle, no hardships. But what if avoiding challenges actually weakened us? Annette Dalton shares an incredible insight from a real-life experiment, where trees in a controlled environment collapsed without wind. The truth is, we need opposition to grow just as much as trees do. The trials you face today are strengthening you for tomorrow. What if instead of resisting, you let them shape you into the person God knows you can become?
This week we are studying Doctrine and Covenants sections six through nine. We’ll talk about the importance of trusting in the Lord’s timing and understanding that He will help us through our trials. We’ll discuss the commandment to look unto the Lord without doubt or fear, and how difficult it can be to obey that commandment. We’ll review the blessings He has promised as we strive to do His will. We’ll also discuss the importance of following through with good intentions, especially when it comes to personal improvement. We’ll review how the more we understand that life is designed to be difficult, and requires ongoing commitment, the more progress we’ll make.
When the Lord calls you to rebuild lives beyond your wildest dreams, will you be brave enough to take the first step? Father and serial entrepreneur Patrick Sedivy recounts how a divine prompting to serve in the Czech Republic propelled him on a decade-long mission to create Cumorah Academy—one of the leading faith-driven leadership institutions in the world. Met initially with failure when an early venture fell flat, Patrick chose to learn from the disappointment rather than abandon his God-given purpose. Even through hardships such as financial setbacks and soul-stretching leaps of faith, he never stopped piecing together the blueprint for the best real-world curriculum a school like his had to offer—one in which spiritual conviction and practical life skills intertwine.
Sometimes your most honest conversations are actually your holiest ones! Whether you have faith questions, are navigating the ups and downs of a relationship, or learning how to manage your mental health, one of the braves things you can do is to open up–to God, to friends, or maybe even a therapist. Ganel-Lyn Condie shares a heartfelt conversation about how talking through your trials and sharing the messy middle of a faith story leads to healing and hope.
Could your challenges actually be a sign of God's trust in you? Amy Sackett shares Elder Christofferson's powerful insight about seeing our trials through heaven's eyes! Whether you're facing personal struggles or feeling overwhelmed, remember that your ancestors faced hard things too - and so can you.
