Being a Parent of an Addict
When a parent has a child come to them, they often imagine what their life will look like and the person who the child will grow to be. In all the possibilities of the dreams of who they can be, no parent ever imagines their child growing up to be a drug addict. As a parent of a child who is a drug addict, Coach Susan Achziger wants parents to learn things she didn’t know when her child became an addict. First and foremost, it’s not your fault. You do not need to own their addiction. All of our children have free agency so they will make the choices they want to make. She points out a fundamental life principle that a parent’s job is to love their kids. They will choose what they will, but you always get to choose love. Whether you are a parent of a drug addict or not, this is a great podcast on having hope and knowing that God knows your struggles and heartache.
