Revelation 6–14

In this episode we'll talk about chapters six through fourteen of the Book of Revelation. Although these writings are highly symbolic and can seem cryptic at times, if we prayerfully study, looking for answers to questions, we’ll receive insights. We’ll talk about some experiences by Sister Nelson and Elder Scott that help us better understand these truths. We’ll review the concepts that while righteousness yields blessings, it does not prevent all difficulties. We’ll talk about how the Lord has prepared ways for us to endure challenges, and how He will eventually provide us with peace and understanding regarding all difficulties we have endured.

Conversations at PoWR

In August, our team attended the 2023 Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago, Illinois. Since 1893, this interfaith conference has advocated for harmony and dialogue across religious traditions and their believers. This year, In Good Faith presented on a panel (see below for link). Now, we also get to share with you the impromptu interviews Steve conducted at the Parliament. He speaks first with Rev. Dallas Conyers and her efforts to combat climate change, an overarching theme at the Parliament. Dallas speaks about a series of consecutive incidents that put her life on hold: listen to how Rev. Conyers found healing through religious vigor and scripture.

Sacred Struggle

As we’ve gotten to know her over the past few years, we’ve noticed that Melissa Inouye, in any group, has a remarkable way of reorienting a conversation. She tends to be the one with the eyes to see “the least of these.” She has a profound and sincere empathy for those who are in deep struggle, those on the edges, the marginalized, the looked-over, the passed-by. When these people and their difficulties are invisible to others, she gently call others’ attention to them as well.

How do I react when someone says I’m a bad parent?

Whether we hear about it or not, lots of parents are very judgmental of the way other people raise their kids. We're all trying our best, but that looks so different from family to family, and it can be so easy to fall into the trap of thinking everyone else is doing it wrong. So what do we do when someone criticizes the way we're parenting? And how can we be better at not doing that ourselves? Lisa chats with Brooke Hoopes, Emilie Campbell, and Gina James about their experiences and advice.
