Open, Partisan or Closed Primaries – The Quest to Fix Primary Elections

Nearly a dozen states have active campaigns to move away from partisan or closed primaries, motivated by a frustration among many voters that the way parties choose nominees in high-stakes elections is broken. By the time most of us cast a ballot in a Presidential Primary, it feels like a pointless exercise: earlier states have already winnowed the field to a clear front-runner. No wonder turnout for primary elections is so low!

Jacob 1–4

In this episode we’ll talk about Jacob chapters 1 through 4. We’ll review how Jacob appears to have been a somewhat anxious person, referring to himself as anxious many times in his writings. We’ll discuss some of the possible reasons for that. We’ll review four principles in Jacob’s teachings that we can use to better manage anxiety. They include being accountable for our choices, doing difficult things even though they make us anxious, accepting the fact that we are weak and not dwelling too much on that, and following inspired and righteous counsel.

Hailing from the heart of Utah, Joe Speredon's diverse background and experience led him into leadership within men's work. Having embarked on his own path of crisis and self-discovery, Joe discovered the healing nature of brotherhood and masculine support. From that place he founded the Utah Men's Circle and later the Algiz Guard. Working with Sacred Sons and many other influential leaders and groups, Joe has had the opportunity to travel all over the world, meet men from diverse backgrounds, and guide them through their own healing and evolution as a coach, leader and inspirational speaker. Joe currently serves in the Church as a Sunday School teacher and as a stake emergency preparedness specialist.
